AND THE WINNNER IS........

DRUMROLL PLEASE.......commment: If I were you I would take pictures of your art work at various stages and then string them together in a video that shows the passage of time. Then post that video on youtube with music in the background from an up and coming musician on youtube (ie: Julia Nunes). Then you'll get traffic when people search that person's name as well as yours. You would be able to put your contact info and website link on youtube in your profile so people could make purchases that way.

Congratulations Chelsey Y. you are the winner of my personalized Princess Bracelet Giveaway! You may thank my beautiful three year old for drawing your name!

Thank you everyone that entered and followed the directions. I really need all the help I can get to become discovered. I can't wait to try out some of your suggestions. I do not know Chelsey personally, but it was as if she really knew me. My most recent idea before reading everyones suggestions was to take images of my process and have them in a slide show it just so happens that my husband is also an artist a contemporay christian singer. So her suggestion was just too perfect; however, he hasn't been discovered either.

My plan this summer was to get enough artwork to have my first show in nearly ten years and the title would be "For we are God's masterpieces . . ." Ephesians 2:10 so naturally I thought of my husband's songs.

Thanks again! Make sure you come back and visit.

CyberShower Party Post for Junior

My labor/delivery story:
July 11, 2005 I woke with contractions at about 3 a.m. This was my first so I was unsure of what I was feeling, but I called the nurse to be sure. She had me time my contractions and told me to go back to bed and get some rest. Naturally, my husband woke when I was talking to the nurse and wanted to go to the hospital immediately, but I reasured him that it wasn't time. At 3 p.m. my husband decided I needed to go to the hospital, but after the nurse hooked me up my contractions were still to far apart to worry. The doctor checked me and they sent me home. Prior to my departure they said that if I experienced any bleeding to come back immediately. I made it to the elevator and I felt a huge gush of something so I rushed to the bathroom and instead of my water breaking I was gushing blood. So back I went and they checked me again. My contractions became very close together and my water broke. Not long afterwards I was asking for an epidural and another 14.5 hours later I had a beautiful baby girl.

The Most Fabulous Nest:

Blindsided

I'd love to share some pictures with you, but I'm never in any that we take a the beach. Sorry, my hubby just doesn't take many pictures. However, if he does take any pictures I have to refine them with a photo editing device.

I hate swimsuit shopping.....I haven't bought a new suit in over four years. After having my daughter I only wear bikini's in my backyard. I have definitely moved on to "mom suits". I prefer tankini's to bikini's NOW after children and thirty. Not to mention I'm blindingly white. I think everyone looks better with a little color, but we don't have a pool or live near a beach and I can find other ways to invest my money than getting a fake bake.

In my early years all I wore was bikini's the skimpier the better. The last bikini I bought was one with the LITTLE triangles to cover your bust that tied around your neck and back. Not to mention even the bottoms tied on either side. My favorite color was purple back then, but I also had a metallic gold one that I wore when I went with my now husband to the lake with a group of friends. Stupid me I loaned it to my best friend and she ruined it in a hot tub.........hum lets just image that little number. My friend and I both scored big I landed my husband and she landed hers. Now as I said I am reduced to TANKINI's. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.

Congratulations!!!

The winner of the "BOOK REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Child of Wonder: Nurturing Creative and Naturally Curious Children (Wonder Collection) by Ginger Carlson" is Joanne K who commented:

"Wow! I just took a look at your work and it blew me away!

The one of the dog really got to me. It brought up feelings of sadness as I wanted to rescue the dog from behind the bars. His eyes look so sad to me.

To draw people like you do really does take a lot of talent. Not everyone can draw people and make them look so perfect like you.

I'm not sure how to get discovered but you really need to.

Maybe you could do drawings of some talk show hosts like Ellen, David Letterman or Jay Leno and try to get them to have you on the show.

I think you should also send your work in to different magazines and see if you get in there.

Good luck. I know someday you will be seen by the right person and will make it big someday."

Joanne K Congratulations!!!! I hope you enjoy it as did I. I plan to follow through with your suggestions! Thanks a lot for putting some thought into your comment.

BOOK REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Child of Wonder: Nurturing Creative and Naturally Curious Children (Wonder Collection) by Ginger Carlson

Child of Wonder: Nurturing Creative and Naturally Curious Children
Author: Ginger Carlson
Publisher: Common Ground Press; First edition (April 1, 2008)
ISBN-10: 0979702704
ISBN-13: 978-0979702709

Have a seat, put your feet up, and get ready for a motivating creative activities you can do with your children or students. This is a wonderful book to help parents and educators better understand and stimulate their creativity. She begins by defining creativity and nurturing then goes on to describe how you can encourage a child’s creativity by giving you step-by-step instructions and recipes for creative activities. Even if you think your child is creatively challenged she will explain in detail how to spark that creativity that you feel is non-existent. The most helpful part of this book for me was how she went into detail about how to set up and organize your creative environment. Carlson briefly describes Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences and has provided checklists developed by Thomas Armstrong, Ph.D., to consider your child’s natural intelligences when setting up your home environment. As an artist I have more supplies than is imaginable and it can be extremely disorganized. Not to mention my husband is a musician and both of us are athletic. As you can imagine my child is probably overwhelmed by supplies and tools to be creative. The first part of this book had me so intrigued that I could not put it down. As an educator, artist, and parent I was overjoyed to find a resource that had endless resources for me to refer to. There are often times that I question how I could be encouraging those around me in a different way and this is exactly what I was searching for. This is a book that every parent and educator with a creative child should read and enjoy.

Blog Party at MommyFest

Hey, my name is Shay and I'm a visual artist and art teacher. Naturally, I wish I could make my living off my art, but instead I teach art for a living in a public school. Please feel free to check out my portfolio and get my home buisness started. Most of my models consist of my daughter. She's the sole inspiration for my recent work which is all that I'm showing in my portfolio. I'd let ya see all my old stuff, but I wouldn't want to get commissioned to do that style of art. I'm hoping to stay busy in my studio this summer my daughter is finally old enough to enjoy getting messy with me she'll be three in July.

What I Know NOW about motherhood

What I Know NOW about motherhood is that POTTY TRAINING IS FOR THE BIRDS!! My daughter is almost three and I feel as though we have been working on this for nearly a year. Finally we are getting somewhere with potty training. She wore panties for the first time to the bank, K-Mart, library,etc.... UGH!!! Hopefully before school is out for the summer she will be potty trained. Visit Notes from my Nest for their Mother's Day Bash!!!

P*A*R*T*Y

Come party with Three P's in a Pod and try and win some great prizes!!! I'm all for some free stuff. Visit their site http://threepsinapod.blogspot.com/2008/05/party.html

For the past nine years I have been involved in art camps during my summer vacations. This is the first time in my adult life that I am taking the summer off. Including all my years of college I had to work during the summer or take classes. However, I will be taking two courses because I don't want to overload myself during the school year. The bright side of it is that both the courses are free and one I even get a $100 stipend. If I were teaching it would be for three weeks instead of two. Two weeks to complete two courses!!! Sounds great instead of a semester long course.

On a personal note which is also professional I plan to update my portfolio so I can exhibit my work. I'm ashamed to tell anyone that it's been eight years since I have shown any of my work publicly. Since I have been married, started a career, and had a baby I have no time for my art. Now that my daughter can join me in my studio we will be spending our mornings creating.

If selected as one of the winners I'd like:
1) A FREE Blog Makeover by Shauna
2) Chesapeake Ribbons: A Meggan Gift Set and a $15 GC
3) Be Jeweled Designs: A Photographer's Tutu in Bubbble Gum Pink
4) UglyFish Organic Clothing: Musik Skirt in Dutch blue

Skeeda?

Yes, I wrote Skeeda. It's the latest trend instead of me having to take all my plastic bags back to Publix to recycle I could use a Skeeda instead. Wow! Never thought I would have become such an environmentalist. Peony is definitely my favorite. I'm such a girlie girl . . . P I N K is becoming my favorite color especially when it is used with chocolate. If you want to see what all the talk is about check out their site at http://www.skeeda.com/index.html they have a lot to offer. I don't want to bore you but here are a few of the things I do to help the environment: recycle plastic bags, cans, plastic containers (use them for my students), foam meat trays (steralize and make printing trays), clay (potter re-use and make new clay), old cell phones if they are totally broken if not I recycle them by giving them to the Abused Women Foundation, and ink cartridges are donated to my school to raise extra money. These are only a few of the things I do to help the environment if you want to contribute your toughts and enter to win one of these bags please visit this site http://www.pediascribe.com/20080312/paper-or-plastic-how-about-a-skeeda/

Fleurville Lexi Tote!!!!

Oh I sooooo need this! It would make an excellent baby/mommy bag. It's trendy and stylish! I would love to have one. I personally prefer the Botanical Coral-LAM. My favorite feature on this bag would have to be the seam sealed, water-proof main compartment. I don't know about you, but I have constant spills with my toddler. Link on over to www.hipmamasplace.com to enter.

Hip Mama's Place offers some of the best giveaways on the internet. I visit their site on a weekly basis and sometimes even multiple times a week which can be hard for me to do working part-time, being a full-time mommy, trying to get a home buisness to take off, in between cooking, laundray, cleaning, playing and creating. It often can be hard finding time to blog too.

Wraps Giveaway

Sleepy Wraps carry your child on your chest. The child is better supported causing no hip or back damage. There is no risk of re-breathing since your child is held on your chest not tightly bundled in a sack. You can do anything with a wrap and even family members can use it to put your child to sleep. Us Mother’s know how well a child is put to sleep on your chest, they easily doze off with no fuss. Wraps are perfect for these moments, and you can also breast feed while using a wrap. Since your child is positioned right on your chest breast feeding is a breeze. One of my favorite's from there testimonials: An absolute Godsend!-Aiden S., Minnesota

That says it all to me. Sold--rather it's up for grabs an Ordinary Life is giving it away. Please copy and past their url to enter http://kailasmommy.blogspot.com/2008/03/wraps-and-slings.html

I have the buttons on my side bar for both companies.

Win an Oreck XL Ultra

I am so excited to tell you about this giveaway I ran across surfing my favorite sites. 5 Minutes for Mom is giving away an Oreck XL Ultra. This mighty little vacuum weighs only 9 pounds!

This vacum is a powerhouse, sucking up filth at the velocity of a cat 2 hurricane AND it has a hypo-allergenic filtration system that eliminates 99.9% of all allergen AND it even lays flat to fit under the bed or furniture.

If you haven’t seen the ads for this fabulous machine, check out the Oreck YouTube channel.
They have demonstrations, like this smoke chamber demo.

Speaking of wanting the Oreck XL Ultra - do you want one?!? Cause we are giving one away!
All you need to do is head over to http://www.5minutesformom.com/2943/oreck/ to enter.
